Could Wembley Stadium go solar?

England's national stadium needs little introduction — but seen from above, Wembley is as much roof as arch. The great steel arch spans a ring of roofing over the stands covering roughly 26,000 sq m. Fitted out fully, that could carry about 8,650 solar panels and some 3.5 MW, generating an estimated 2.8–3.5 million kWh a year, on par with around 1,160 homes.
