Could Stadium of Light go solar?
On the north bank of the Wear, Sunderland's Stadium of Light is topped by large cantilevered stand roofs reaching out over the seats. Across roughly 16,500 sq m of that structure, a full-roof solar array is estimated at a theoretical ~2.3 MW. At the North East's ~890 sunshine hours, that's an annual 1.6–2.0 million kWh, near 660 homes.
