Could Asda Eastlands Supercentre go solar?
Next door to the Etihad Stadium, Asda's Eastlands Supercentre in Manchester puts a huge unbroken big-box roof — about 20,500 sqm — to work above the tills. We measured roughly 8,800 panels, around 3.5 MW, which could generate an estimated 2.4–3.0 million kWh a year, close to 1,000 homes. With daytime demand right beneath it, a survey would confirm the viable area.
