Metered, not modelled
What British roofs actually made
Every solar site publishes the same modelled figure, because everyone draws from the same few models. This is different data: the metered output of 14,879 real UK homes over 2024, read from their own meters.
Best to worst area

between the best and worst postcode areas in Britain. Where you live changes what your roof earns by more than a third, and nobody could tell you that from evidence until now.

Every area we can measure
Ranked by median output. An area needs at least 30 metered systems to appear here at all, which is why some of Britain is missing rather than guessed at.

What is deliberately not here
No page exists for an area with fewer than 50 systems. It returns a 404 rather than rendering an empty shell, because thin pages are exactly what this avoids. Nothing is published below postcode-area level, and no figure appears as a bare average: every number here is a band with its sample size attached.
Where the numbers come from
openclimatefix/uk_pv (Hugging Face, CC-BY-4.0), collected by Sheffield Solar. The British median is 766 kWh per kWp, with the middle half of all systems between 677 and 838. How we measure.
Every figure here is downloadable: the full 49-area table as CSV, CC BY 4.0. Areas with fewer than 50 metered systems are excluded rather than estimated.
